PLACEMENT SUMMARY You will learn how to implement and maintain high standards of care as planned and directed by health care professionals. All care and activity will be carried out in accordance with the Trusts declared values and principles.
This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. You will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed. The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation when necessary and in line with the service developments.

3. You will be aware of and adhere to relevant legislation and Trust policies and procedures particularly those relating to health, safety, security in the work place and environment. You will contribute to ensuring: The environment is safe and free from hazards and secure from intrusion, theft or damage, Service users and loads etc are moved and handled correctly, making effective use of moving equipment, That service users property within the Organisation is respected and secure, That he/she attends relevant statutory and mandatory training.

4. You are expected to carry out their duties with a focus on: Effective customer care, Creating a positive impression of yourself and the organisation, Companionate & Caring, Helpful and co-operative, Polite, Respectful of all viewpoints. 5. You will ensure they use the resources available to them efficiently and effectively.
This includes: Working flexibly to meet the needs of the service, Using aids and resources appropriately and safely in accordance with Health and Safety requirements. 6. You will understand your role within the team, and, also the roles and contribution of both the immediate and extended team members.
This will include: Promoting the philosophy of care in all aspects of care delivery, Working with key internal and external partners to contribute to the delivery of effective care. 7. You will promote a positive image of the Trust at all times.
This includes: Upholding and enhancing the good standing and reputation of the Trust and the service, Dealing with incidents appropriately and according to Trust policy, Seeking opportunities to promote the Trust and its services. 8. You are required to be available to work on a 24-hour/flexible shift system including weekends and late shifts (in line with Young Workers Directive).
Placement Specific Competencies Service User Care You will support health and social care professionals by learning how to provide individualised care for service users and structured recreational activities for service users both individually and in group sessions.

The care provided by the trainee will be determined following assessment and collaborative discussion with the appropriate healthcare professional and in accordance with the individuals care plan. Care provision will meet individual needs and be adapted to the environment and promote functioning (where this has become impaired) by contributing to ensuring: privacy and dignity is respected at all times, maintaining their personal hygiene and appearance, meeting their nutritional needs, including enabling them to make simple meals and drinks (if relevant), making informed choices and promoting individuality and self-expression, gaining access to toilet and washing facilities (if relevant), improving and maintain mobility (if relevant), participating in meaningful therapeutic and recreational activities, including creative work, hobbies and special interests, providing accurate written or verbal information to the identified professional regarding any changes in the individuals condition or progress, where appropriate, enabling those who are significant to the individual to play an active role in their care.

Service User Comfort and Safety You will contribute to the individuals comfort whilst in his/her care. This includes: Safe moving and handling at all times, Respond appropriately in the event of a health emergency, Promote the physical comfort of service users at all times, Maintain and improve an aesthetic homely environment, Minimise the negative effects of disruptive or abusive behaviour, Contribute to monitoring service users who are at risk from intentional or unintentional abuse, Provide appropriate support to service users at times of emotional or physical distress, Adhere to Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations and multidisciplinary risk assessments, Deliver care in line with the principles contained within the infection prevention and control policy.

Personal Development You will take responsibility to develop and maintain skills required to achieve the competencies and deliver effective service user care. This includes: Participation in management supervision, Participation in appraisal reviews, Participation in identified development activity outlined in their personal development plan and other relevant opportunities as they arise, Obtain Level 2 Health and Social Care Apprenticeship framework qualification.
