An opportunity has arisen due to retirement and expansion of services for a Consultant Anaesthetist/Intensivist to join the team at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. The role involves delivering general anaesthesia and Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals and working on the 18 bed adult intensive care unit at Barnet Hospital.

The successful candidate will have a CCT in Anaesthesia with a specialty interest in Intensive Care Medicine.

The on call commitment is one in 12 weekdays, and one in 6 weekends covering critical care.

There is a well-equipped Intensive care unit at Barnet Hospital divided into two wards. ITU North has 8 beds, and ITU South has 10 beds. The Barnet ITU has been paperless for approximately 15 years and has extensive opportunities for data collection, audit and research.

There is an active teaching programme as well as a robust and comprehensive monthly M&M meeting.

  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice
  • MB BS or equivalent
  • On GMC Specialist Register via CCT in Anaesthesia (proposed CCT date must be within six months of interview
  • CESR or European Community Right.
  • FRCA or equivalent
  • Evidence of Intensive Care training upto Level 3 , or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • *MD or PhD
  • *Outstanding research record
  • FFICM

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Training and education of undergraduate and postgraduate students including an understanding of recent changes in the training of ICU Doctors
Desirable criteria
  • Possession of ATLS
  • Possession of ALS/EPLS/APLS certificates.
  • Instructor ALS/ EPLS/APLS certificates
  • Course in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching.
  • Training the Trainers course.
  • 6 months paediatric anaesthesia experience
