Technology & Data Lead
he National Audit Office (NAO) is the UK's main public sector audit body. Independent of
government, we have responsibility for auditing the accounts of various public sector bodies, examining the propriety of government spending, assessing risks to financial control andaccountability, and reviewing the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of programmes, projects, and activities. We report directly to Parliament, through the Committee of Public
Accounts of the House of Commons which uses our reports as the basis of its own
investigations. We employ approx. 1,000 people, most of whom are qualified accountants, trainees, or technicians. The organisation comprises two service lines: financial audit, andvalue for money (VFM) audit and has a strong core of highly talented corporate teams.

Context and main purpose of the job:Introduction: The Technology and Data lead is a newly created role within the NAO's Digital Services (DS)
function. With responsibility for leading the technology and cloud environment elements ofdigital products utilised by the NAO's service lines and for overseeing the strategic and
governance aspects of the NAO's data platforms and tools. This role undertakes a crucial role
in the digital development of the NAO, leading the technology and data practices focusing on
the organisation's two service lines.
Across our audit functions, you will lead one of several technical project teams, delivering, andcontributing to the development of the strategic direction of the NAO's technology used for
supporting audit. You will work with system owners to support determining the systems and
operating model under BAU, and other key business partners to ensure operational success of
technology systems which have successfully transitioned to BAU.
At this role level, you will:- Act as a technical product owner, developing medium to long term strategies for
