About the School - Downsend Sixth
We are incredibly proud to be opening Downsend Sixth and see this next chapter for Downsend School as an exciting and enticing prospect for both staff and students alike. The buildings, environment and experience will give our students an excellent foundation on which to build their own futures.
Downsend Sixth will have a different feel to other more traditional sixth form experiences, housed in its own newly renovated space near the centre of Leatherhead, there will remain a connection with the rest of the Downsend community, but students will have a much greater chance to cultivate independence, maturity and a real opportunity for personal growth.The building will have state of the art technology and facilities that will allow all students to develop and flourish.
We are now looking for a Teacher of Maths to join the Downsend Sixth Team to join the team for August 2025.

About the role
We are looking for a teacher to deliver high-quality A-Level Mathematics with the ability to teach Further Maths, fostering a deep understanding of advanced mathematical concepts while inspiring and motivating students to achieve their full academic potential.The ideal candidate will have a secure knowledge of the subject and curriculum areas, maintain pupils’ interest, address misunderstandings, and demonstrate a critical understanding of developments in the field. They will plan and deliver engaging lessons on topics such as pure mathematics, applied mathematics (mechanics/statistics), and decision mathematics, taking into account the aptitudes, needs, and prior attainments of the pupils in their lesson planning.
Who we are looking for:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- A degree in Mathematics, Further Mathematics or a related subject
- In-depth knowledge of A-Level Mathematics topics with knowledge of Further Mathematics • Strong verbal and written communication skills with students, parents and colleagues
- Experience teaching Mathematics at A-Level, including Further Mathematics
- Experience in preparing students for university entrance exams (desirable)
