Teaching Personnel's SEN team is seeking a passionate and experienced English Teacher to work in one of our partner Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools. This role involves supporting students with mild to moderate learning difficulties who are working towards GCSE level.

The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality English lessons that enable students to achieve their academic potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment. The school supports students aged 11-16 with a range of Special Educational Needs, focusing on academic, social and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging English lessons that are tailored to meet the diverse needs of SEN students, helping them progress towards their GCSEs.
  • Collaborate with SEN professionals to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring all students have access to a fully differentiated curriculum.
  • Support students in achieving their GCSE goals by providing targeted instruction, using a range of teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs.
  • Track and assess student progress, offering regular feedback and liaising with parents, carers, and the SEN team to keep them updated on each student's academic journey.
  • Foster the emotional, social, and personal development of students, encouraging confidence, independence, and positive learning experiences.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and other support staff to create a structured, inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the school's wider community.

Person Specification: We are looking for a dedicated and adaptable English teacher who is committed to making a difference in SEN education.

Essential Criteria:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching English, ideally with students working towards GCSEs, in an SEN or inclusive educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and needs of students with mild to moderate learning difficulties.
  • Ability to differentiate lessons to meet individual learning needs and support students working towards key qualifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with SEN teams, students, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with SEN students.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Previous experience working in an SEN school or with students who have specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, autism, or ADHD.
  • Additional qualifications or training in special educational needs.
