We are looking for Occupational Therapists to join this exciting rotational role working across multiple mental health settings all based in the Oxford city area.
The rotations are 12 months in duration and include Phoenix ward (adult inpatient), Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) who provide assessment, care and support at home helping people avoid a hospital admission and Sandford Ward which specialises in older adult mental health.
This post is for qualified Occupational Therapist with experience working in mental health at Band 5 or Band 6 level. Development roles will be considered.
We can offer a supportive AHP leadership structure, positive appraisal and development system and opportunity to develop clinical and leadership skills to enable career progression.
In this role you will gain experience of inpatient, community, and forensic settings. In each of the yearlong rotations you will be supported to develop your skills in a different area of clinical leadership. Including investment in training and completing quality improvement projects.
Main duties of the job
This is a rotational band 6 occupational therapy post across different clinical areas within mental health services in Oxford Health, where the post holder will provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment interventions for the specified service user group.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- To carry out the initial screening and assessment of all service users and to undertake intensive short-term treatment where appropriate.
- To manage a caseload of clients with complex Occupational Therapy needs, using evidence based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- Following assessment, to undertake case formulation to highlight occupational strengths and limitations and to inform the intervention plan moving forward.
- To assess for and prescribe appropriate equipment and aids to enable patients’ safety and independence with ADL’s giving advice to other staff, families and carers when required.
- To be responsible for monitoring and evaluating treatment plans, working with other teams both within the Trust and third sector organisations when appropriate.

Person specification
Training/Qualifications
Essential criteria- BSc/MSc Occupational Therapy
- Additional sensory training e.g ASI
- Evidence of mental health specific post registration training/development e.g AMPS, PSI
- Membership of RCOT may include specialist sections
- Current HCPC registration
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working with mental health service users in a clinical role
- Two years post graduate experience working as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of supervising and developing junior members of staff and students
- Experience of undertaking audit or quality improvement work
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practice
- Broad knowledge and application of OT in mental health
- Ability to apply the Model of Human Occupation
- Ability to relate knowledge of physical health to mental health setting
