Our highly reputable Clinical Sciences department has an exciting opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join the team, who will support projects focused on the identification and refinement of interventions targeting viral pathogens.The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative research group, supporting a diverse research portfolio.
Day to day duties will include the maintenance of mammalian cell culture, viral propagation and the development of robust methods to support preclinical anti-viral drug discovery programmes, including the development of new viral controlled human infection models.
Key responsibilities include:
Support production of new SOPs and risk assessments, as requiredMaintenance of accurate laboratory records and stock inventory
Preparation of stock compounds and reagents
Preparation of cell culture media
Maintenance of mammalian cell cultures
Viral stock propagation and storage
Bacterial stock propagation and storage
Plan and perform experiments independently according to established protocols
Support the work of research students
Identify and report project risks and opportunities
Leading in paper writing activities
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
PhD Qualification in Biological Sciences (or related discipline)Practical laboratory experience, with experience of working independently
Experience in viral culture and mammalian cell culture
Strong attention to detail, with previous experience in generating laboratory data and maintaining accurate records
Experience in publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals
Previous experience of managing multiple projects and working to deadlines
Experience in bacterial culture would also be beneficial for this post however, this is not essential.
