Please note that this is a fixed term contract / secondment opportunity for a period of 9 months.

The successful applicant will be required to attend the Chelmsford offices for collaboration on workstreams as well as for team meetings and casework, this typically averages 1 to 2 days per week.

We're looking for a skilled HR Case Management Consultant to join our wider people Operations function. You will be keen to make an impact, setting high employee standards. As a function we are committed to providing service excellence, innovation, and a customer-centric approach.

As part of a small, welcoming and friendly team, this is a generalist HR role, working with managers at all levels of the organisation on their employee relations issues, offering guidance and support in resolving complex issues. You'll manage a diverse caseload of people-related issues, ensuring they move forward effectively and efficiently.

Collaboration is at our core. You'll work closely with line managers, coaching and mentoring them to boost their confidence and effectiveness in managing their teams. Strong teamwork and building effective relationships are essential. You'll also collaborate with various teams across the People and Transformation function.

We're committed to continuous improvement, staying ahead of the curve. You'll be encouraged to continually enhance your skills, stay updated with the latest employment law and best practice guidelines.

What you'll need to bring to the role:

  • CIPD membership and a minimum of level 5 CIPD qualification with a strong desire for continual development.
  • Proven experience of at least 2 years working in a HR environment advising, supporting and guiding managers in employment casework, with a detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant employment legislation and practice.
  • Evidence of performing against set targets to meet service levels and a desire to continually improve the service offered.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, demonstrating empathy, listening and questioning skills to a very high level and ability to build rapport and trust when dealing with sensitive employee issues.
  • Strong team working, motivation and ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues across the Council.
  • Solution focussed with an ability to confidently manage and prioritise multiple demands, to an outcome seeking continuous improvement.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office suite of products and business technology and the ability to use systems.
