IT Support Technician Apprenticeship (Level 3)
As an IT Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced professionals, learn essential skills, and contribute to the smooth operation of our IT systems.
This apprenticeship provides a learning environment where you will combine on-the-job training with formal education to gain a nationally recognised qualification. You will be exposed to a wide range of IT tasks and technologies, providing you with a solid foundation for a future career in IT.
Duration of contract: 16 months (+/- as required for the completion of the apprenticeship course, with the hope to extend permanently following completion of the apprenticeship based upon business requirements).
Key Responsibilities
As an IT Apprentice, you will be required to undertake the following responsibilities as part of your day to day activities:
- First-line support
- Provide first-line technical support to employees, resolving hardware and software issues.
- Log and manage support tickets using a helpdesk system.
- Assist with the setup and configuration of workstations, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Systems Administration
- Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of IT systems and networks.
- Perform routine audits through system checks and backups.
- Network Support
- Assist with basic network troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Learn about network protocols and technologies.
- Help to ensure network security and stability.
- Data Management
- Assist with data entry, data backup, and data recovery processes.
- Learn about database management and data security.
- General
- Assist with the inventory of IT equipment.
- Create and maintain IT documentation.
- Follow IT security policies and procedures.
- Apprenticeship Learning and Development
- Attend training sessions and workshops to develop your IT skills.
- Complete coursework and assignments as part of your apprenticeship program.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest IT trends and technologies.
- Work towards achieving the required qualification.
Requirements
Qualifications- Essential: GCSEs at Grade A/8 or above in English and Maths
- Desirable: GCSE Computer Science or similar.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware and software.
- A passion for IT and a willingness to learn.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
