This is a replacement post in Paediatric Intensive Care and Transport Medicine, supporting paediatric intensive care and the Childrens Medical Emergency Transport service (CoMET), based in the Womens & Childrens Clinical Management Group of the University Hospitals of Leicester.
The successful applicant will join a 1:8 rota of middle grade medical staff and advanced practitioners, supporting the paediatric intensive care transport service and cardiac & critical care services at Leicester Royal Infirmary. CoMET is hosted by UHL and operates from a central transport hub at Castle Donington alongside the neonatal, adult and ECMO transport teams.
The successful applicant will be based at Castle Donington but will have opportunities to rotate to the Leicester General and Cardiac Paediatric Intensive Care. This post is suitable for paediatric trainees who are looking to enhance their intensive care and Transport skills in a specialist intensive care/ECMO unit; either as a stand-alone fellowship, an out of programme arrangement or following completion of their CCT.
The post holders will receive training in all aspects of paediatric intensive care and transport medicine including management of cardiac critical care and ECMO patients. The successful candidates may also support mobile ECMO retrievals. Applicants will therefore need to have completed level 1 training (ST4 and above), and ideally have experience in neonatal or paediatric intensive care at registrar level.

Previous experience in critical care transport, in the post-operative care of paediatric cardiac patients and experience in ECMO would be an advantage. Applicants from a paediatric or anaesthetic background would be welcome.An appointee will participate in post-graduate and under-graduate teaching and be encouraged to take part in research.
