This is an exciting opportunity to lead the design and development of the new South West Imaging Training Academy Hubs and Spokes. NHSE have committed funding in the 23/24 and 24/25 financial year to fund the development of the South West Imaging Training Academy [SWITA]; Task and finish groups have been established with clinicians and partners from across south west ICSs to develop the Vision and Operating Model for SWITA.

The ambition is to design and deliver academies that can work with south west healthcare systems to deliver world class multi-professional training to improve outcomes for patients.

You will become part of a dynamic team who are passionate and committed about supporting education and training and the expansion and transformation of education, you will lead, in partnership with the Co Clinical Directors the development of the training academy vision, approach and infrastructure across the region, overseeing the project management of the training hubs, development of systems and processes and the business and administration functions of the academy.

In line with NHSE and UHPT strategic objectives you will work with a range of senior managers internally and externally to lead project and change initiatives.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for leading a defined set of interdependent projects at SWITA and the associated business change activities. Primary responsibility for successful delivery of the required outcomes, including the establishment of appropriate governance and assurance, monitoring progress, managing risks and issues and ensuring the business readiness for change.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Project Management

Deliver significant programme or projects for SWITA targeted at increasing training capacity, to provide a high quality and enhanced training experience and to accelerate learning to independent practice.
  • Managing the set-up and delivery of projects, working with colleagues and subject matter experts on the strategic planning, scoping, design and the delivery.
  • Deliver significant projects for SWITA that supports system transformation and delivers corporate transformation across the new operating model.
  • Manage the whole lifecycle of a project, reporting on progress and managing risks and issues, escalating where necessary to the project board.
  • Support organisational change and the uptake of initiatives that support and embed excellence within the health system.
  • Ensure benefits are identified, understood, measured, tracked and owned.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and support new programmes and projects where necessary.

Person specification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Significant demonstrable experience of managing projects and delivering them within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • • Demonstrable experience of leading change projects.
Desirable criteria
  • • Demonstrable experience of working within the Imaging field through workforce, networks or management.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Educated to Masters level in a relevant area of academic practice or equivalent demonstrable experience working at a commensurate band / level.
  • • To have one or more of the below programme /project management qualifications or equivalent level of demonstrable experience: Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner. Prince2 Practitioner Managing Successful Programmes Advanced Practitioner. P3O Practitioner. APM Registered Project Professional. Major Projects Leadership Academy.
Desirable criteria
  • • Additional management qualification or specialist qualification or equivalent level of demonstrable experience.

Aptitude & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • • Able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive and contentious information.
  • • Able to draw qualitative and quantitative information from a range of sources and present it in a clear and concise way.
