We currently have two Change Manager vacancies in the Change Team in our busy and fast paced IDT department and would welcome applications from interested and motivated candidates who are up for a true challenge!

The Change Manager will support the ongoing process of change across the Trust relating to Cerner EPR and other applications’ optimisation and deployment. This includes clinical documentation and ePMA processes, and the establishment of electronic clinical pathways.

These changes regularly impact on a large number of staff in the Trust and the post-holder will be responsible for helping minimise the expected disruption.

The Trust is part of a Group arrangement with Epsom & St Helier Hospitals which has committed to the development of a new shared domain which will make it easier for patients to be treated and for clinicians to work collaboratively across south-west London, Surrey and beyond.

As this new shared EPR domain will be based on the current St George’s domain, it is anticipated that this role will support that development at St Georges.

The post-holder will be responsible for understanding current processes and requirements and help design and deliver relevant electronic documentation. This is essential for the delivery of these changes and to meet the vision and strategy of the Trust development of our EPR and related systems and applications.

Within specified work-streams the post holder is expected to:
  • Be responsible for defining and gaining agreement on the scope and deliverables of change requests.
  • Develop expert knowledge of electronic clinical documentation and the work processes required to use it effectively.
  • Analyse existing work processes against the Trust process requirements.
  • Design and implement new and effective processes in collaboration with the services, ensuring real engagement with clinical, managerial and administrative staff at the Trust.
  • Engage appropriate organisational change management techniques to prepare, manage and support change processes in a manner which seeks to minimise disruption to day-to-day business that will affect large numbers of staff at the same point in time.
  • To support effective communications processes, ensuring real engagement with clinical, managerial and administrative staff.
  • Be able to quickly adapt to changing priorities, new challenges, and emerging opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support and work collaboratively with Change Agents and Senior Change Analysts within the team.

St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (SGUH) has a vision to be a thriving hospital at the heart of an integrated healthcare system. One that delivers improved patient care at a community, hospital and specialist setting, supported by a unique and nationally recognised programme of research, education and employee engagement.

The IDT department manages the Trust’s IDT systems, infrastructure and IT support services enabling the electronic filing, printing and sharing of both clinical and non-clinical information. It also provides support to manage the systems and services which includes: helpdesk; IT training; break-fix; application development, acquisition and support for all the supported Trust IT services.

The IDT department is also responsible for Information Governance.

We work to identify opportunities to streamline business processes and to enable data sharing and collaboration internally and externally by use, or replacement, of technology. In addition, IDT provides tools to enable business units to achieve their goals, resulting in improved quality of care to patients.
  • Work closely with identified clinical and other staff in each area to identify change requirements.
  • Undertake a Gap Analysis between current work processes ‘As is’ and the processes that will be required upon implementation ‘To be’ of the new electronic clinical documentation system and provide documentation to support the changes to process i.e. downtime documentation, policies and procedures
  • Work with clinical services to identify the requirements for training, equipment or amendments to current workflows, job roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure these requirements are met through relevant work streams.
  • Facilitating the transition of staff and clinicians to new processes and implementing quality assurance strategies following the introduction of new Standard Operating Procedures and work processes.
  • Consult and engage closely with staff at all levels who are affected by the changes in work processes and ensure the provision of support in the lead up and transition to the new processes.
  • Ensure that intended quality, efficiency and financial benefits of the proposed changes are clearly identified, defined and tracked (including by the development of specific measurements / indicators).
  • Provide the Change Management perspective in the development of all change documentation.
  • Advise the Programme & Project Managers on all process review issues pertinent to the project.
  • Support the sustainability of new processes that is required for the electronic clinical documentation to work effectively.
  • Utilise Change Management knowledge to provide input into Programme Management control documents e.g. Share Point, Risk Register, Programme Plan as and when required.
  • Work with colleagues across the hospital to adapt policies and procedures to fit with new processes as required. Provide expert clinical systems advice to policy development.
  • Support the Programme & Project Manager to ensure projects are appropriately transitioned to ‘business-as-usual’ with robust training and support arrangements in place.
