It is an exciting time to join our service with the Trust committed to becoming a designated major trauma centre over the next 5 years and with the opening of a new Norfolk and Norwich Orthopaedic Centre in July 2024, transforming our elective care provision.

As a result our team is growing and we are seeking a Senior Therapy Assistant / Assistant Practitioner with experience of musculoskeletal conditions and/managing patients after orthopaedic surgery, to join our acute inpatient Trauma and Orthopaedic team.
We are willing to consider recruiting to this role as a development post supporting you to progress from B3 to B4 through successful completion of our competency programme +/- foundation degree depending on your chosen route. We are willing to consider supporting fixed term or secondment options if substantive posts are not filled.

Positions may soon also be available in other specialist teams across our in and outpatient services and you will be able to express interest in being considered for these if successful at interview.Candidates will need to be available for face-to-face interviews we are unable to offer virtual.

In this role you will manage a delegated caseload of patients in addition to undertaking a variety of activities each day to support our Physiotherapy/Therapy teams to provide excellent patient care. This may include working with another clinician during an assessment or treatment, supporting a patient to complete a prescribed exercise, functional task or mobility plan, undertaking administrative and reporting tasks, and maintaining equipment and stock levels.

You will receive training to undertake this role working with and learning from staff who are experts in their field along with junior staff, other support workers and students. You will receive supervision and annual appraisal and take an active role within your own personal

development using our competency framework.

The post holder will work with minimal supervision to undertake a variety of clinical tasks to support the delivery of therapy to patients. They are to have delegated responsibility for a specified clinical area and assess, prioritise and manage own caseload of patients, determine problems and treatment indicated and maintain comprehensive records.

Work with minimal direction, undertaking a variety of non-clinical tasks to support the Therapy service. To be delegated training responsibilities to other staff groups.

The post holder will have a shared responsibility for departmental tasks to ensure the effective running of the Therapy Service. Following training the post holder is to assist in the management/treatment of patients in the Trust under the instruction of the Therapists as appropriate.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence.

We deliver services from 8:00 – 20:00 and the postholder must be flexible to work early, late and long day shifts. Post holder will be required to commit to 7 day working pattern. A roster is in place for weekend and bank holiday shifts.
