The 0-19 Health and Wellbeing Service has an exciting opportunity for a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join our well established Early Years Communication and Language Development Service, closely aligned with the Bolton Council Start Well Service.The post is a part-time (28 hours) fixed term position, to cover maternity leave for 10 months.
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist who is interested in working with families and pre-school children, particularly focusing on early identification of speech and language difficulties and working in a collaborative way with parent/s and carer/s using appropriate intervention approaches.
Main duties of the job
You will work as part of team of Speech and Language Therapists and Assistants providing advice and training to Early Years Providers and the wider workforce including Public Health Nursing and Social Care. You will provide a range of interventions to meet the aims and objectives of the Early Years Communication and Language Development Service (EYCLDS), Pathway for Communication and Language within the Early Years New Delivery Model GMCA (Greater Manchester Combined Authority) and other relevant local strategies.
You will need to be able to assess children using a wide range of informal and formal assessments, provide verbal and written advice, devise therapy programmes and work together with nursery staff to implement these. You will also be required to work collaboratively, within a range of settings, with a range of professionals including public health nurses, early years support workers, nursery and education staff.You will therefore need to demonstrate good communication, inter-personal, organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.
Clinical supervision is provided through joint work with other team members, team meetings, case note audit, clinical supervision sessions and through appraisals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Working independently as an autonomous practitioner as a member of the Early Years Communication and Language Development Service (EYCLDS) alongside the Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy team, delivering a service to children with a wide range of communication difficulties.
Assessing, differentially diagnosing and treating a specified caseload of children with speech, language and communication impairments some of whom will be from a variety of ethnic and social backgrounds. This may include working with interpreters to assess all languages which children are exposed to.Assessments will take place in Family Hub settings as well as homes and early education settings, and it is therefore essential that you are able to travel around the borough.
Liaising with, and training other health, education and social service professionals; and to work in partnership with parents/carers and external agencies to ensure the delivery of a high quality service.
