The 0-19 Health and Wellbeing Service has an exciting opportunity for a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join our well established Early Years Communication and Language Development Service, closely aligned with the Bolton Council Start Well Service.

The post is a part-time (28 hours) fixed term position, to cover maternity leave for 10 months.

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist who is interested in working with families and pre-school children, particularly focusing on early identification of speech and language difficulties and working in a collaborative way with parent/s and carer/s using appropriate intervention approaches.

You will work as part of team of Speech and Language Therapists and Assistants providing advice and training to Early Years Providers and the wider workforce including Public Health Nursing and Social Care. You will provide a range of interventions to meet the aims and objectives of the Early Years Communication and Language Development Service (EYCLDS), Pathway for Communication and Language within the Early Years New Delivery Model GMCA (Greater Manchester Combined Authority) and other relevant local strategies.

You will need to be able to assess children using a wide range of informal and formal assessments, provide verbal and written advice, devise therapy programmes and work together with nursery staff to implement these. You will also be required to work collaboratively, within a range of settings, with a range of professionals including public health nurses, early years support workers, nursery and education staff.

You will therefore need to demonstrate good communication, inter-personal, organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.

Please contact us if you are interested in this role. Applicants will have a recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification, HCPC registration, RCSLT membership and experience of working with a paediatric caseload.

We are an innovative team and ensure that individuals have opportunities to develop and contribute according to their specific talents and interests. Preceptorship and mentorship is provided to enable you to gain your RCSLT newly qualified competencies, if you are newly qualified.

Clinical supervision is available from specialist SLTs and peer support is also available.
