As the Employee Relations Advisor, you will be responsible for supporting the management of an ER case load, focusing on sickness absence, working proactively with managers to agree plans and propose recommendations within designated areas for the management and reduction of sickness absence.

You will work closely with Senior Employee Relations colleagues who will ensure that they are fully supported and developed to gain valuable experience, knowledge and skills to deliver within this role. The Employee Relations Advisor will also be provided with opportunities to challenge and stretch their abilities.

Flexible Working:

The team operates under a hybrid working agreement, with onsite working 3 days per week, working from home 2 days per week.However, the needs of the service will come first and more onsite working may be required

The post holder will be responsible for managing employee relations case load including sickness absence, disciplinary, early resolution and capability cases working proactively with managers to agree outcomes and propose recommendations, ensuring that risks are dealt with efficiently.

The Employee Relations Advisor will be responsible for ensuring that advice and assistance to managers complies with HR best practice and employment legislation and fosters good employee relations.

The Employee Relations Advisor will work collaboratively with the HR Business Partners to support the organisation’s business objectives.

Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites.

Provide timely, consistent and proactive professional ER advice in relation to sickness absence ensuring that best practice is applied.

Support managers at formal sickness absence review meetings and presenting managers at hearing under the Trust Sickness Absence Policy.

Advise and support managers on ill-health retirement and the management of staff whose long-term conditions are likely to be covered by the disability provisions of the Equality Act 2010.

Assist with HR projects that support the delivery of the strategy as directed by the Head of ER.

Design, develop and deliver training to managers, employees and colleagues on ER related topics to enhance manager’s knowledge and skills. To design and deliver ad-hoc training as required.

Work with the ER Managers/ER Specialists and Head of ER in driving the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion agenda to improve Workforce Race Equality Standards (WRES) and Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) data to support staff and become a more inclusive organisation.
