An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time experienced Senior Therapy Assistant with expertise in Intermediate Care, Rehabilitation, Rapid Response, and Admission Avoidance. We are seeking a well-organised individual who is passionate about promoting independence and providing therapy interventions across our Intermediate Care Units and within a person's own home, utilising a home-first approach.

  • Killelea House (Enhanced and Residential IMC)
  • Home-based Intermediate Care and Reablement
  • Elmhurst Short Stay Intermediate Care Service
  • Bury Rapid Community Response Service
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Advanced Practitioners, Nurses, Social Workers, Care Support Workers, and Administrators. Our service operates 7 days a week, covering the hours of 8 am to 8 pm, including weekends.

Therefore, the ability to work shifts within these hours is essential.

We are interested in hearing from an experienced Therapy Assistant with an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and a proven track record of working with a multi-disciplinary team for this role.

Main duties of the job

The Intermediate Tier prides itself on providing strengths-based assessments and interventions to the people of Bury, helping them regain or attain as much independence as possible within their own homes. Our patients are truly at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for someone committed to being part of a healthcare team that delivers excellent care and support.

As a Senior Therapy Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing support work to aid the rehabilitation of patients.
  • Managing your own caseload and performing patient therapy assessments.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating individualised holistic treatment programs.
  • Delivering a high standard of evidence-based care.

Within all our Intermediate Tier services, you will work within and have support from a large multidisciplinary team. You will follow appropriate pathways of care and liaise with and refer to other agencies as needed.

We are looking for a hardworking and motivated individual with strong clinical, communication, organisational, and time management skills. A flexible approach to day-to-day tasks is essential to meet the demands of the service. You will also need to travel across the service footprint, so access to transport is essential.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent as assessed by relevant training and competencies.
  • Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of the principles of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy
  • Extensive experience working as a Therapy Assistant within in-patient intermediate care/ rehabilitation / community services
  • Experience of different moving and handling techniques and equipment
  • Knowledge of area of clinical governance including audit, quality, and risk management

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good communication (written and verbal skills)
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the requirements of the service such as evening, weekend and bank holiday working
  • Ability to travel to different geographical locations across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
Desirable criteria
  • Full UK driving license with willingness to use own car for work purposes
