Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, flexible, and dedicated Clerical Officer to join our Endoscopy admin team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic team in a first-class, spacious, and state-of-the-art hospital environment.

As a Clerical Officer in our Endoscopy department, you will play a key role in managing the booking of patient endoscopy procedures. Your responsibilities will include daily management of key targets such as booking appointments, managing patient pathways, liaising with patients and coordinating with both Endoscopy and supporting departments.

You will also have the chance to interact directly with patients, covering reception duties, requesting case notes, handling phone queries and sending out communications.

The Endoscopy administration team operates from 8 AM to 8 PM Monday to Thursday, and 8 AM to 6 PM on weekends, requiring a flexible working approach. You will primarily be based at KMH, with cross-cover required at Newark Hospital and the Endoscopy Mobile Unit located at Kings Mill.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Computer literate, with experience of using a keyboard with a high level of accuracy.
  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes
  • Knowledge of databases, spreadsheets i.e. PAS, Excel or similar applications

  • Sound office clerical background providing knowledge of relevant procedures.

Desirable criteria
  • Formal keyboard/typing qualification eg RSA II or ECDL
  • NVQ in Customer Care
  • Institute of Health Records & Information Management Diploma (IHRIM)
