Personal Assistant

Personal Assistants required for two 12-year-old boys who have Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy and are both electric wheelchair users. They love cars, Lego and Minecraft.

Living in the Bude area.

The Personal Assistants needs to be patient and willing to build up a positive relationship with them while providing them with 1:1 support and increasing their independence so they can enjoy activities in their local community.

Rate of pay £12.00 per hour.

10 hours each per week. Support will be required for after school and some weekends as well as some availability during school holidays – to be arranged between personal assistants and parent.

Help also required for daily early morning support, currently during term time only, but looking to extend this throughout the year as this would be beneficial to both the boys and their parent.

Car driver preferred but not essential.

Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential.

The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check; this administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
