Job overview
We are looking for an experienced, competent and confident Band 6 Cardiac Nurse to manage a Cardiology Clinic Service in the community. The service provides remote clinic for Consultant, Chest Pain, Heart Failure, Hypertension, Respiratory and Cardiac diagnostic clinic.The post holder will help to provide and support cardiac diagnostics as well as support Consultant and Specialist nurses clinics and be responsible for the day to day management of the clinic.
The clinics are located across a number of sites and although you will be predominantly based at one site, there will be times when you may need to cover other sites. The base clinic for this post will be the Hanwell Health Centre in Ealing.
The successful candidates will join a friendly team who will help support their learning and orientation into the role. We believe this is a fantastic team to work with and look forward to having someone who will join us as we provide excellent care for our patients.The post holder will line manage Health Support Workers.
The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously to manage remote clinics in a dedicated team of HSW and physiologist. Therefore applicants will have extensive experience and knowledge of working within an acute cardiac setting and be an expert at ECG interpretation.The successful applicants will be given appropriate training.
This is an interesting and challenging role. Applicants are advised to attend an Informal visit to understand the service better.
Main duties of the job- The role will provide support for the existing community cardiology service across a number of sites
- Work alongside the Cardiology MDT to provide diagnostics and outpatient services on the Community sites.
- Run 24hr ECG, 24hr Blood Pressure clinic and walk in ECG clinics.
- Provide support for Consultant and Specialist Nurses clinics.
- To provide high quality, effective, care to all patients and assist in monitoring standards
- To assess care ,implement and evaluate patients without supervision where necessary
- To assist in leading and monitoring the performance of the junior members of the clinic team
- To respond to patients, relatives and carers concerns as they arise and take remedial action as required.

EDUCATION
Essential criteria- Registered Nurse
- Experience in Cardiac Nursing ILS
- Experience of supervision of junior staff Evidence of continuing
- Excellent ECG interpretation skills
- Post Specialist course or evidence of post registration training / equivalent experienceteaching and assessing course
- Post basic teaching and assessing course
SKILLS/ABILIT IES
Essential criteria- Ability in teaching
- Able to demonstrate application of expanded roles/skills within clinical setting.
- To use initiative
- Proficient IT skills
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria- Demonstrable experience at band 5 in a cardiology/cardiovascular setting
- Effective time management for self and others
- Able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of Microsoft office including Excel and PowerPoint
- Previous critical care experience
- Previous out patient experience
