Teacher of PE and Science - (Girls' PE)

The Role
This is an opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled sports person to join the PE department at Bohunt Farnborough. We place a high emphasis on PE and sport offering a wide range of sporting activities, and all students actively participate in lessons.We are keen to appoint the best teacher, therefore you need to be able to demonstrate excellent sporting skills, irrespective of sport. The Head of PE is passionate about PE and sport and is looking to appoint someone who will ensure lessons are engaging, enjoyable, challenging so that students make rapid success.
Teachers that are passionate about their subject motivate students therefore you will need to show a passion for sport and an interest in engaging all students in physical activity. A keen interest in extra-curricular activities is expected and a willingness to run clubs is essential.
While the main focus is the development of practical skills needed in various sports, the skills of organisation, teamwork and leadership play a vital role in developing young people. We have a good tradition of developing talent and students have gone on to represent GB in their chosen sport.
Our students are lively, keen to learn and characterful.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate independence, resourcefulness, great commitment and enthusiasm alongside the willingness to work as part of a tight knit team. All members of the department also currently teach a second subject and you will be expected to be able to teach another subject in the short term.We would welcome applicants who can also teach Science.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and skilled sports person who is keen to make a difference to students' lives through a passion for sport. You should have a good understanding of both the practical and theoretical aspects of PE and a desire to continually develop as a teacher.This role would suit either an ECT and an experienced teacher.
You will:
- have a passion for Physical Education and Sport which is evident in your teaching
- demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver inspirational learning experiences for students
- have an understanding of how to promote effective and inclusive teaching and learning
- be able to evidence success in raising student achievement across a broad range of abilities through successful assessment, monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the range of strategies that could be used to address underachievement
- possess good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents
- demonstrate a strong desire to undertake Continuing Professional Development to inform teaching
The Department
The Physical Education department has 3 members of staff who all teach a wide range of sports. Bohunt Farnborough has good sports facilities, with extensive football pitches, a modern Sports Hall, large Fitness Suite, a School Gym and outside courts for netball and tennis.PE is popular and a number of students study it at GCSE. The Head of Department is highly experienced and you would be joining a passionate team who can support a new member of the team. The department has a specialist room for GCSE PE, equipped with Smart TV and Chromebooks and the whole department is well resourced.
The department is well supported by a Lead Practitioner within the Trust and all lessons are pre designed and resourced, enabling you to personalise your teaching materials rather than creating resources. This is aimed at reducing planning and preparation time and supports our commitment to a healthy work-life balance.
