Job Title: Public Programme Producer
Location: Dudley
Salary: £28,350 per annum
Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Contract: Fixed-term from 6 January 2025 till 3 October 2025

Black Country Living Museum is seeking a Public Programme Producer who will play a key role in developing the Museum’s visitor engagement through a range of programmes, stories, characters, activities and resources. This could include public events, holiday activities, festivals, and for schools and lifelong learning.

What will you be doing?
  • Developing creative visions for visitor focussed programmes to including stories, activities, set dressing and talking points for character and learning based live interpretation
  • Selecting and working with entertainers, artists, re-enactors and volunteers in support of the events programme
  • Collaborating with colleagues from across the Museum, as well as external partners, to ensure programmes meet the creative brief
  • Assisting with identifying and developing themes, characters and stories
  • Liaising with communities to actively diversify our audience and programmes
  • Seeing projects through from conception to evaluation, including writing briefs and setting and meeting deadlines
What are we looking for?
  • Someone with experience of developing and managing programmes from start to finish
  • A knowledge and awareness of developing public programmes for diverse audiences
  • Experience of adapting research and historical information into compelling stories and participatory programmes
  • Experience of working with teams and external partners to develop ideas and deliver tangible outputs
  • Ability to work independently and organise and prioritise workload to meet changing demands and comply with tight deadlines
  • A creative skillset to generate ideas and transform them into programmes
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
