Fashion Editor - 6 Month Maternity Cover
Role Overview
The fashion editor is an integral role in The Telegraph’s award-winning fashion team, responsible for writing original pieces across the publication’s digital portfolio, always with an eye on driving engagement.
They will not only be full of brilliant ideas but be able to think about clever and innovative ways to promote The Telegraph’s content across digital and social channels, creating communities which are engaged and excited by The Telegraph’s fashion coverage.
The editor will have a sharp sense of the trends, people and talking points which are perfect for The Telegraph’s readers whilst also thinking about appealing to new audiences and writing sparkling copy at speed.
They will also be expected to attend news conference, edit columnists and freelancers, interact with readers at events and be an enthusiastic presence as part of the UK’s leading newspaper fashion team.
Key Responsibilities- Ideas and writing for digital, magazine and print.
- Promoting all The Telegraph’s fashion content via social media and newsletters, always with an eye on new and innovative ways to do this, including creating groups and working with influencers.
- An obsessive approach to analytics, using learnings to inform future ideas and meet targets.
- Working closely with the Head of Fashion.
- Assisting with forward planning and editing across all publications.
- Deputising for the Fashion news and features director when necessary.
- Proven experience writing on this specialist area in a national publication or magazine.
- Must have relevant experience of digital publishing platforms (including content management systems) and social media.
- Must have a sound knowledge of key fashion events and news, with a network of contacts across designers, brands, writers and influencers.
- Confident in dealing with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.
- Highly organised, enthusiastic and diligent.
Desirable skills:
- Flexibility to work at weekends and travel internationally as required for the role.
- Solid understanding of how to build a digital audience and produce SEO-friendly content.
