Job overview
Are you interested in a challenge as well as enhancing your management and leadership experience within a diverse, innovative, and forward-thinking outpatient service?If the answer is yes, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Manager within the CAMHS National & Specialist Outpatient service. The post is part-time 22.5 hours per week, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The successful candidate will jointly manage the day-to-day operational processes within the service to achieve national and local governance standards. We are looking for an organised, motivated, and committed individual to join our management team.You will need to be flexible and adaptable to provide leadership, management, advice and guidance to staff within the service.
The postholder will manage agreed business and performance management systems across the service, whilst taking responsibility for ensuring service access and delivery is efficient, effective, evidence-based, needs led as well as service user and carer focused.
The role requires strong compassionate leadership, working closely with staff, young people, parents and carers.
Main duties of the job- The Service Manager will be responsible for the overall management of a range of CAMHS National & Specialist Outpatient Tier 4 services within the SLAM mental health services for children, young people and their families.
- Manage the effective and efficient delivery of services within the resources available whilst maintaining the quality-of-service provision.
- Working closely with colleagues within the service to ensure excellent clinical, operational, performance and financial outcomes.
- Lead a management team of senior clinical staff responsible for the modernisation programme of CAMHS provided by SLAM in accordance with NHS national plans, priorities and targets, as well as the development of strategic and local delivery plans.
- Report, through the CAMHS Director and Deputy Director, ICB, Provider Collaborative, NHSE and other commissioners on financial matters.
- To role model and encourage positive working relationships across the Directorate, the Institute of Psychiatry and Kings Maudsley Partnership.
- To support education, training, teaching and research within the service.

Maudsley Hospital (headquarters)
The CAMHS National & Specialist Outpatient service is based at the Michael Rutter Centre for Children and Young People, on the Maudsley Hospital site. The entrance to the building is in De Crespigny Park, off Denmark Hill, SE5 8AZ.Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2) and is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Ruskin Park and the vibrant high street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range of restaurants.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Masters level education in management DMS, CMS, MBA or equivalent relevant experience in health or social services
- Project Management qualification.
- Management qualification, management training course completion or significant management experience
Experience
Essential criteria- Senior operational management of clinical teams in health or social care services.
- Planning and implementing service developments and change within a clinical/care setting.
- Developed communication skills for delivering key messages to a range of stakeholders both internal and external (including outside the NHS) to the organisation, some at very senior level.
- Experience of performance management of service delivery, staff and processes to ensure local and national targets are consistently achieved.
- Experience of change management and workforce redesign.
Understanding and Knowledge
Essential criteria- Understanding the principles relating to contractual arrangements / Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with commissioners.
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria- Financial management, procurement and budget planning abilities.
- Capacity to plan strategically and to direct service developments through clear action plans.
- Skills in prioritising work to meet multiple and simultaneous internal and external deadlines.
- Skills in performance, financial and HR management.
