The NCA are delighted to offer opportunities for newly qualified Midwives to join our friendly and supportive Maternity team.

We offer an excellent preceptorship programme with an option to choose a hospital based preceptorship which will support you to consolidate and develop your skills and knowledge across all services based at Royal Oldham Hospital or a community midwifery based preceptorship with spoke days/weeks in inpatient services.

This post is open for newly qualified midwives with a current NMC registration or for student midwives who anticipate qualifying before the end of March 2025.

Interviews will be held on Monday 17th February 2025.

Main duties of the job

The newly qualified midwife is responsible for the assessment, implementation and evaluation of clinical care for women, birthing people and babies on the maternity unit. As a newly qualified midwife, you will work in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team ensuring effective care is planned and delivered.

As a newly qualified midwife, you will be responsible for undertaking relevant further study as required for the post and complete preceptorship. You will be expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism to ensure that the highest standard of care is given to patients in their care.

Provide support and supervision to less experienced practitioners, midwives, nurses and students to the trust standards and competencies and to support colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.   • UK NMC Registered Midwife
  • Degree / Diploma in Midwifery or will achieve by 31st march 2025
Desirable criteria
  • NIPE Qualification
