Surgical Care 1 and Elective Care Centre are within the Anaesthetic and Surgical Division
We are responsible for the admission of Elective surgical patients either as a Day case or an inpatient stay.
We are looking for a dynamic , motivated and eager Ward Clerk to join our dedicated team of professionals.

You will be required to work 34 hours per week and have excellent customer service skills and be familiar with the ward environment and etiquette. You also must have excellent communication skills and be able to prioritise your own workload and work within the multidisciplinary team.
As you are the first face that the visitors will see on arrival you must have a polite and courteous disposition.
You will also require to have good computer skills as you will be using the trust's digital systems such as patient management.
You will also be responsible for management of patient records, help facilitate admissions and discharges.

Duties and Responsibilities- Undertake the registration of patients’ admissions and discharges, appointments and
- Request case notes from medical records/file for patients attending on to the ward, locate
- Ensure that health records standards are met at all times adhering to the access to health
- Ensure all documents are filed correctly and that case notes are maintained in a neat and
- Plan and prioritise own workload to ensure ward deadlines are met
- Complete corporate, departmental induction and required IT training.
- Ensure at all times that patient/client confidentiality is maintained, promoting equality for
- Ensure the prompt answering of telephone calls in an efficient, helpful and professional
- Receive and transmit messages either personally, by telephone or email from Patients,
- Ensure all necessary information is relayed and display an understanding for the degree of
- Liaise with medical secretaries, other disciplines and departments to ensure relevant
disclosure.
