Our busy secretariat serves over 40 consultant oncologists, who work both at our central Weston Park Hospital site and at District General Hospitals across South Yorkshire.
This is an exciting time to join the team as we are working towards digitising a lot of our processes to benefit patients and teams.
The successful candidate will need to be an excellent team player and able to work using their own initiative. We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual who must have excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines while consistently working accurately.
The main duty of the post will be to support the Advanced Clinical Practitioner Team as well as the monitoring of waiting lists, demonstrating a strong commitment to the Sheffield NHS Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust’s PROUD values.
Main duties of the job- To undertake the medical secretarial role in order to provide:
- A comprehensive secretarial service to the ACP team.
- Information to a whole range of professions involved in cancer care.
- A link and point of contact for patients and their representatives.
- Quality and up to date patient case notes which are available.
- Cover within the medical secretariat generally.

The medical secretariat is split in to three teams comprising of Medical Secretaries, Support Secretaries, Audio Typists and Admin support to various clinicians. Weston Park Hospital is one of only four hospitals in the UK entirely dedicated to non-surgical cancer treatments and works in partnership with the University of Sheffield so that our patients benefit from the latest cutting edge cancer treatments.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria- GCSE English at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent experience.
- OCR lII or NVQ Level 3 in Business / Admin
- Medical terminology
Experience
Essential criteria- Previous secretarial experience / working in office environment
- Proven evidence of verbal & written communication skills
- Proven ability to work as part of a team
- Methodical approach to workload
- Proven evidence of organisational skills
- Experience in maintaining quality and up to date patient case notes
- Understanding of data protection issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Able to act on own initiative when required to signpost patients according to specialty
- Previous NHS / public sector experience
