Assistant Management Accountant

This is a permanent role based at our Head Office in Poole.

Key Responsibilities: As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will play an essential role in maintaining the financial health of the SEA LIFE Trust and its subsidiaries. Your key duties will include:

• Maintaining receivables and payables: Accurately processing transactions, managing payment runs, posting bank transactions, and ensuring receivables and payables balances are up to date.
• Month-end reporting: Assisting in the preparation of timely and accurate month-end management accounts, including bank reconciliations, income journals, and accruals/prepayments.
• Year-end accounts: Supporting the preparation of statutory annual accounts by maintaining reconciliation schedules, control accounts, and fixed asset registers.
• Revenue reporting and analysis: Preparing weekly revenue reports, fundraising analysis, and variance reports to ensure key financial insights are available to management.
• Supporting audits: Assisting both internal and external audits by providing accurate information and maintaining thorough financial records.
• HMRC returns: Preparing and submitting Gift Aid and VAT returns for the Management Accountant’s review, as well as handling National Statistics Surveys.

Qualifications & Experience:

• AAT Level 4 qualification (or relevant experience will be considered).
• 5 GCSEs at grade 4-9 (A*-C), including Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Strong numeracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Experience with accounting software and strong Excel skills are highly desirable, alongside VAT returns.
