Polam Hall School wishes to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Art to commence in September 2025.
The role:
We seek a dynamic teacher who is passionate about art, enthusiastic about engaging pupils in the subject, is innovative and has high expectations for all students. We are looking for someone with the potential to teach art at KS3 and at GCSE to a high standard.There will also be opportunities to work alongside the staff and pupils in our Junior School.
The successful candidate will be a creative and committed practitioner and a competent artist in their own right with a strong personal portfolio and a commitment to their own personal development; who is able to maximise the potential of all our pupils; will use teaching and assessment effectively to ensure that all pupils demonstrate excellent artistic skill and contribute to further raising standards of achievement.We are also looking for a colleague who can make a significant contribution to the wider artistic life of the school, through extra-curricular activities and contributions to school productions, exhibitions and displays.
Art sits in our vibrant Expressive Arts Faculty. As our only art teacher, you would be surrounded by a team of experts from practical subjects who work together and support each other. Creativity and the arts have always been at the heart of our school.Art is an incredibly popular subject, with good take up at GCSE and strong outcomes. Whether for pure enjoyment or as a career choice we aim to encourage all pupils to work at a high level and be proud of the art work they produce.

Polam Hall School is a 4 – 16 all-through academy and is part of Woodard Academies Trust. We have 840 pupils on roll, with one and a half forms of entry in our Primary Phase and an increased four forms in our Secondary Phase. Polam Hall is a school with a unique and long history which today is proud to be a fully comprehensive school serving the young people of Darlington.Our mission is to educate the whole child, developing leadership, compassion, character and academic ambition, through the combination of our Academic and Concordia Crescimus curricula.
