This new part time (0.6 FTE) post is available from the 1st of November until 31 March 2025 to cover a maternity leave in Cedar (Clinical Education Development) within Psychology.

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

The role

Within Cedar, you will have responsibility for managing and monitoring the Psychological Professions Network for the South West (PPN-SW) programme and the related implementation interface with services and key partners. You will have responsibility for the associated operational administration, communication strategies, and quality management including reporting on targets to NHSE and PPN-England (PPN-E) and within the Department and Faculty as appropriate.
You will work with the PPN-SW co-chairs, PPN-SW Administrator and Graduate Research Assistant as well as the PPN-SW steering committee and Director of Cedar to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the PPN-SW netowork in accordance with relevant NHS policy and the Faculty’s education strategy and the External Affairs strategy, supporting the effective transfer of clinical-educational collaborative provision into operational delivery.

You will also contribute directly to the overall management of the PPN-SW network and, where appropriate, across Cedar in the development and implementation of innovative and effective clinical engagement and participation practices across Cedar and within the psychological professions community in the SW region.

Specific Purpose of the job:
  • Oversee management of KPIs outlined for the PPN-SW Project, including oversight of the communication strategy for the PPN-SW taking account of PPN-E objectives and priorities.
  • Act as the main point of liaison between CEDAR, the PPN-SW co-chairs, the PPN-SW steering group, PPN-E, other Arms-Length Bodies (ALBs) and wider stakeholders from within the psychological professions community in the SW region, ensuring key objectives are implemented and good governance of the project ensues.
  • Responsible for ensuring good governance of the PPN-SW project and, in liaison with local Service Heads, supervisors, commissioners (HEE-SW) develop and maintain reporting systems for ensuring the quality of the PPN-SW project.
  • Responsible for ongoing organisation and delivery of appropriate PPN-SW training
  • Ensuring effective links between local, regional and national agendas in line with PPN-E and CEDAR’S external affairs strategy
  • Problem solving training and service related implementation of key PPN-SW KPIs at a local, regional and national level
  • Supporting the operational development and sustainability of PPN-SW project objectives.
  • Oversee the provision of the PPN and the staff who provide this
  • Develop the clinical aspects of the programme, strengthening the work of the PPN and CEDAR and international reputation of CEDAR.

About you

For the Clinical Lead PPNSW Programme Manager post Senior Lecturer post you will:
  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge in Psychological Professions, as demonstrated by either a doctorate level training or the necessary equivalent in a psychology profession, or equivalent awareness of the specialist core knowledge relating to the academic area in order to support the success of the project
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of own clinical specialism to enable the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field, specifically in relation to the development of clinical skills
  • Understanding of NHS and / or other clinical services and the development of workforce within these.
  • Have a consistent track record of excellent teaching across a variety of modules and levels within your discipline as might be expected of a very experienced HE Teacher.
  • Extensive experience of clinical practice and service settings in relation to the relevant area (specify as needed)
  • Have proven Leadership qualities in an HE/Clinical/ NHSE environment.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiating skills in NHS and non NHS organisations across a range of levels and disciplines with the ability to manage conflict
