Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Children's Nurse to join our team. This role involves working closely with children and families to deliver high-standard, evidence-based nursing care. You'll be responsible for assessing, managing, and evaluating nursing care plans, collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and holistic care for children in their community environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, manage, and evaluate skilled nursing care in consultation with the child, family, and team leads.
  • Deliver specialized nursing care, including enteral feeding, IV antibiotic administration, tracheostomy care, and central venous access.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies to ensure seamless care for families.
  • Support and empower parents and carers to confidently manage their child's needs at home through education and risk assessments.
  • Promote health education as a core component of care.
  • Undertake complex discharge planning, ensuring safe transitions and coordination with hospitals.
  • Maintain accurate, systematic, and timely record-keeping of clinical data.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current NMC registration and pediatric nursing qualification.
  • Experience in children's nursing within a community or hospital setting, including experience with complex care such as tracheostomy management and enteral feeding.
  • Strong clinical assessment and communication skills to engage effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children practices and the ability to uphold child protection standards.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and documentation, with a meticulous approach to maintaining clinical data.
  • Commitment to professional development and openness to ongoing training in line with service needs.
