The trust has approached Hays seeking an IT Technician to be based permanently at this secondary school, which has been graded as outstanding by OFSTED over consecutive years, and it is therefore important the right individuals are appointed to ensure the continued success of the school.Based in Blackburn, the school is easily commutable, and the successful candidate will become an integral part of both the central IT team, and the wider support staff team at the school.
Your new role
As an IT Technician based in this secondary school, you will be responsible for providing IT support to both pupils and staff on a daily basis, ensuring that end users are fully supported and that a high level of support is offered at all times.You will support with both hardware and software, as well as work with bespoke educational technologies and equipment, therefore further developing your own IT knowledge. The role will involve upgrading and installing software, installing and building new hardware, liaising with third party providers regarding any software issues and also supporting end users with the use of IT equipment.
Working in an educational environment, it is key that you liaise with end users to ensure that the use of technology is being encouraged and therefore further enhancing the teaching and learning offering available to pupils.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you will have experience providing first line IT support to end users, working in a face-to-face environment providing excellent service on a daily basis. You will ideally have experience working in the education sector and, therefore, a knowledge of systems and technologies present in this sector and a passion for working in education is also essential.Strong communication and relationship building skills are paramount for this role.
