We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Outdoor Education Learning Support Assistant to join our team and support learners in a variety of outdoor educational settings.

The Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the lead instructors to help children and young people engage with outdoor activities. You'll assist with the delivery of curriculum-linked learning, support learners with diverse needs, and help create an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment.

This is a rewarding role for someone with a love for the outdoors, a passion for education, and a genuine interest in helping young people thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the lead instructors in planning and delivering outdoor activities such as bushcraft, team-building exercises, environmental education, and outdoor sports.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to children and young people with diverse learning needs, helping them to fully participate in activities.
  • Help manage safety protocols during activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all learners.
  • Encourage positive social interaction and emotional development through outdoor learning experiences.
  • Contribute to the development of personalised learning plans and ensure that all students feel valued and included.
  • Support with classroom-based learning, where required, to link outdoor experiences with academic goals.
Essential Requirements:
  • A passion for the outdoors and a commitment to outdoor learning and education.
  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional needs (experience in an educational or youth work setting is desirable).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support students of varying abilities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from the lead instructor.
  • A positive, patient, and empathetic attitude.
  • A good level of physical fitness, as the role will involve outdoor activities in all weather conditions.
Desirable:
  • Relevant qualifications in outdoor education, child development, or special educational needs.
  • First Aid qualification or a willingness to undertake training.
  • Knowledge of the local area and its natural environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
