Editorial Director, Wonderly
Overview:
As Editorial Director for Wonderly, you will ensure the quality and relevance of all content across print, online, podcast, and live platforms. You will drive content strategy, foster strong client relationships, and oversee seamless project delivery aligned with Wonderly’s and Haymarket’s goals.
This role involves managing editorial efforts, ensuring high standards for client partnerships like CIPD, and leading initiatives for new business development. Your leadership will shape Wonderly’s content, enhance client satisfaction, and contribute to strategic growth and financial performance.
Responsibilities:
General- Ensure overall editorial quality and relevance of all content emerging from Wonderly brands across all channels – print, online, podcast and live.
- Take the lead on client relationships relating to content – attend all relevant meetings, stay abreast of strategy, develop strong relationships with clients, act as first port of call for troubleshooting and answer any strategic questions in this area
- React to and lead on requests for additional content-led projects from Wonderly clients: pull together response documents, contribute ideas, work with editorial teams to find solutions, take creative lead on any creative response required
- Take the lead on editorial work relating to Wonderly awards and events and ensure editorial resource is allocated to these appropriately
- Take direct responsibility for all content-led client work outside the immediate Wonderly output, including that delivered by Content Labs, Digital or other Haymarket teams. Ensure the quality of this work, communicate with clients and troubleshoot any issues relating to delivery
- Be on top of online metrics and work with editorial teams to better hone our digital model and improve performance across any metric deemed important by clients and strategic goals set by Wonderly or wider Haymarket group
- Understand the financial performance of Wonderly and work with editors to improve this where appropriate
- Take the lead in editorial response on new business, working alongside the Head of Creative to determine the creative required for meetings and pitches, drawing in staff and freelance resource as appropriate
Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria:
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Experience in leading an Editorial Team
- Ability to work effectively and provide direction and leadership to a team under stringent deadline requirements.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate closely with both internal and external stakeholders
- Creativity in developing engaging, fresh, and relevant content
- Proven experience in a similar role
